Adolescents and teens struggling with mental health conditions often go through different treatment programs until they find the one that works for them. It is not uncommon for teens to start therapy through outpatient programs after they are diagnosed, only to realize that their symptoms are not improving and their conditions are more deep-rooted or complex than they first thought.

Teens going through therapy need a supportive community to grow and thrive. Different levels of care are available depending on the teen’s needs, and the best healthcare providers will tailor their programs to fit each individual adolescent. At Beyond Healthcare Fairlawn, our partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers comprehensive mental health support for adolescents ages 11-17. Call 330.621.0725 or contact us online to schedule an appointment at our center just outside of Akron.

What to Expect from the PHP at Beyond Healthcare Fairlawn

Your teen can find support in regular therapy in our partial hospitalization program, which provides comprehensive mental health treatment six hours each day, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. PHP therapy at our clinic is perfect for patients who have gone through a mental health crisis or hospitalization recently. Our PHP includes 25 hours of group therapy, one hour of individual therapy, and one to two sessions with a nurse practitioner every week. Furthermore, we hold weekly phone calls with families to update them about their teenager’s progress, in addition to offering family counseling sessions.

The average duration of a behavior therapy method using PHP is six to eight weeks, but it might be shorter or longer based on your teenager’s progress. They’ll visit with a therapist once a week, and their treatment will be handled by an expert mental health specialist. We pay close attention to whether your teen meets the objectives we established at the start of therapy, and we keep parents informed about their development.

The Importance of our Partial Hospitalization Program in Ohio

Many patients find Beyond Healthcare’s partial hospitalization programming and evidence-based therapies helpful in addressing their complex conditions. Some of the services our team uses include:

  • Psychiatry
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Experiential therapy
  • Additional specialized services if needed

Research has shown that intensive daily treatment usually leads to long-term results. It also allows your teen to develop new coping skills so they can manage their condition on their own. A PHP is a good option for young people because their behaviors are more flexible and they can adapt easily, which sets them up for success later in life. You can anticipate significant achievement in a short period of time. We also encourage our patients to participate constructively in group discussions by paying attention and sharing their opinions with others.

Partial hospitalization programming includes education services that are coordinated with your child’s school in order to maintain wellness and provide support during their transition back into the school environment.

Our PHP in Ohio Supports our Other Mental Health Services

In our PHP, your teen and family will participate in therapy sessions with a professional therapist. You and your teen will discuss how your family has dealt with challenges in the past, such as mental health issues. Family members will learn how to manage hardships positively and develop strategies for overcoming future obstacles together. A therapist will facilitate each session; however, it is important that each member of the family is involved.

PHP is frequently employed as a stepping stone to IOP, which is regarded as a less intensive behavioral health treatment. Our PHP is perfect for teenagers requiring moderate to high levels of mental healthcare who find it difficult to manage their daily lives at home, at school, and at work without risking themselves or others.
